February 17, 2012 -- I have sent the following to the Hamilton Spectator in response to the letter published in today's newspaper titled "Lucene Charles: MP Sweet misled me". We anticipate this will be published next week. Hamilton Spectator Dear Editor, Re: Lucene Charles (Feb. 17) I was shocked and disappointed to read a letter with such categorically false claims about me and my office published in today’s Hamilton Spectator. Please allow me to correct the record. My office and I spent a significant amount of time and effort intervening on behalf of Lucene Charles and advancing the concerns expressed by so many in the community. While privacy laws preclude me from commenting publicly on the details of any individual case that a constituent brings forward to me as their MP, I can most certainly assure you that we raised this issue strongly.
