David Sweet - Member of Parliament for Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale
David Sweet was elected as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale in January 2006.
In Ottawa, David serves as Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs, Chair of the Steel Caucus, Co-chair of the All Party Interfaith Friendship Group, and as a member of the Human Rights Sub-committee and the Canadian Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism (CPCCA).
Prior to his election to Parliament, David ran his own business providing management consultancy and training services to a wide range of corporate, public and not-for-profit sector clients. David’s leadership experience includes work as Vice President of Business Development for a Canadian-based think tank from 2004 to 2006 and President of two national not-for-profit organizations prior to 2004. In the 1980s David spent a number years in real estate sales followed by a move to General Manager of one of the largest real estate franchise offices in Canada at that time.
David is involved in many community organizations in his constituency, including the Ancaster Food Drive, the United Jewish Appeal walk and the Canadian Club of Hamilton.
David was a triathlete, participating in the North American long course in his birthplace of Kingston, Ontario. He continues to be an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking and swimming. During breaks in the Parliamentary calendar, he makes time with his family to enjoy the splendor of the internationally acclaimed Dundas Valley trails in his riding.
David and his wife Almut live in Ancaster with their two youngest children.
