There are several Benefits administered by Service Canada. We can help provide information on any program:
- Canada Pension Plan and Canada Pension Plan Disability
- Old Age Security
- Guaranteed Income Supplement
- Survivors Benefit (Death, Survivors and Children),
- Employment Insurance (Regular, Sickness, Maternity/Parental, Parents of Critically Ill Children and Fishing)
In order for us to assist with a Service Canada related case, we will need the full name, date of birth and social insurance number of each constituent.
Q: I submitted my OAS application a few months ago and have not heard anything yet. What is going on?
A: We can make an inquiry with the Service Canada MP unit to make sure the application has been received and to check on the status for you.
Q: My GIS payments are less than last year. Why?
A: The amount of your GIS depends on your marital status and your total income in the previous tax year, or the combined total income of you and your spouse or common-law partner. If any of these situations changed last year, it would effect this year’s GIS rate. We can make an inquiry with the Service Canada MP unit to confirm the reasons and get an explanation for you.
Q: I don’t have a SIN card. How can I get one?
A: Service Canada has made it easy for you to apply for a SIN. When applying in-person, you do not have to complete an application form nor do you have to mail your original proof-of-identity documents. Simply gather all the documents you need and take them to the nearest Service Canada location. If everything is in order, you will get your SIN during your visit.
